Carnival

Carnival goes on for several weeks, accompanied by samba and salsa rhythms, culminating in an elaborate costumed parade in San Sebastian and the symbolic burial of a sardine. Most but not all events take place in the capital, and sometimes the festivities spill over into Lent.
