Since 1996, Dyke March has been a popular and successful alternative to the larger, commercialized, male-dominated Pride fests of Chicago. Rotating neighborhoods every two years, Dyke March focuses on uplifting queer and trans women of color in the Chicago LGBTQ community that exists outside of the Boystown (Lakeview) and Andersonville utopias. Post-march concludes with a park gathering offering food, live music (pop, punk, rock) and local organizations tabling information. Info for post-march queer dance parties is also usually circulated here.
