Fronted by the magnetic singer Ziek McCarter, the Bay Area-based Con Brio is the most electrifying soul/funk/R&B band on the scene, combining timelessly funky grooves with tight horns and blazing guitar. Named after the Italian musical direction meaning "with spirit" or "with fire," the band mixes the old school funk influences of Sly Stone and James Brown with contemporary luminaries like Prince and D'Angelo into a fresh sound, informed by the past, but looking decidedly forward into the future.

Con Brio has shared the stage with artists including Galactic, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Fishbone, Meshell Ndegeocello, and Trombone Shorty, and their appearance on PBS' venerable music showcase Austin City Limits inspired PopMatters to call them "the best new live band in America."

The band's progression as a seasoned, tightly-wound touring group has meant moving steadily from a support act to wildly popular headliners, performing internationally on the festival circuit with dates at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Summerfest and San Francisco's Outside Lands, Japan's Fuji Rock, Montreal Jazz Fest, and the North Sea Jazz Festival. Following their 2015 EP, Kiss The Sun, Con Brio has released their deeply funky full-length follow-up, Paradise, produced by the legendary Mario Caldato Jr. of Beastie Boys fame.
