In Japan when the cherry trees blossom it is tradion to celebrate this by having a Sakura Festival.A Japaneese businessman, Mr. Seiichi Takaki donated a number of Japaneese cherry trees that was planted in Langeline Park in Copenhagen.In 2008 the Copenhagen Sakura Festival Committee was established to hold the Copenhagen Sakura Festival at Langelinie Park with the help of the Copenhagen Municipality, the Embassy of Japan and various Japanese firms and cultural groups in Denmark.
