With roots in late 1970s LGBT film festivals, the Mardi Gras Film Festival is one of Australia's largest film festivals and one of the world's top five queer film festivals. In addition to providing distributors and exhibitors with a platform for LGBTIQ films, it also stages special events and curated programs. It is a highlight of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.
