Agiasos, Lesbos Prefecture, Greece
Agiasos is home to the famous Church of the Virgin Mary, and every year hosts a feast in her name. Taking place on the 15th of August, it brings together locals and tourists for a schedule of theatrical performances, dances, exhibitions and concerts. The village also organizes track races called Christophidia, which draw participants from all over the island. On the eve of the feast, a traditional stew called keskeki, which has been blessed by the Archbishop, is served throughout the village.
