Groot Constantia, the oldest wine estate in the country and provincial historical site, has been producing wines for over 300 years. The original manor house burned down in 1925 but was reconstructed true to the colonial Dutch original. It became part of the South African Cultural History Museum in 1969 and today is managed by the Iziko South African Museum. Known for producing high quality reds and a fine dessert wine, the estate has wine tastings and cellar tours in addition to its historical and cultural importance.
