For breathtaking adventure and nature close up and personal, try shark cage diving as seen in documentaries on Discovery, Animal Planet, National Geographic and BBC Channels. The best diving season in False Bay is from February to September when you're also likely to see plenty of penguins, dolphins, whales and seals in the waters. False Bay is out of season the summer months of October to January, but diving trips can be arranged in Gansbaai about two hours up the coast. Trips range from half-day to up to a week along "The Great White Trail," but leave a window of several days in case of bad weather.
