Designed by British architect Sir Herbert Baker, St. George's Cathedral was begun in 1901 replacing an earlier church. The Anglican cathedral - still incomplete - is the seat of the Archbishop of Cape Town. Desmond Tutu was bishop at what is known as "the people's cathedral" because of its role in South African activism. There are daily services.
