The Company's Garden is a park and heritage site dating from the mid-17th century when the first European settlers grew produce there to replenish the stores of ships going around the Cape of Good Hope. A pleasant landscaped spot with lawns and benches, historic statues, a restaurant and the oldest cultivated pear tree in the country, it is also the site of the Iziko South African Museum and the Iziko National Gallery. There are occasional festivals and a permanent craft market.
