Expat surfers discovered Big Wave Beach, Hong Kong's officially recognized surfing beach, in the 1970s. Consistent wind swells attract a local crowd on the weekends, but beware of dangerous rip tides in the deep cove. You can take the MTR as far as Shau Kein Wan, exit A3, and then a bus going to Shek O but get off at Big Wave Bay Road.
