Hong Kong has more than 20 species of fireflies, most of which can be observed at Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve. The peak viewing is May - August, but the breeding season extends from April to November. The guided walk on Fridays and Saturdays is over fairly easy terrain for adults and children and takes about 2.5 hours. Just remember to bring a flashlight and bug spray. Tai Po Kau is accessible by bus.
