The British started racing horses at Happy Valley in 1845. The Hong Kong Jockey Club still holds races there September through July on Wednesday evenings and some weekends. Happy Wednesday is a party night with food, drink, music and socializing in addition to the races. The club maintains the Hong Kong Racing Museum at the track, open noon to 7 pm and until 9 pm on race days. Track admission is HK$10 (US$1.25); the museum is free. Take the Happy Valley tram to the end of the line or the MTR to Causeway Bay and follow the signs.
