St. Stephen's Beach where expatriate prisoners of war were held during the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong in WW II today is a peaceful beach where people paddle, windsurf and sail small boats. The swimming area is netted to protect against sharks. It's beneath the college of the same name and on the western side of the peninsula where Stanley is located.
