Stanley Main Beach, on the eastern side of the peninsula where Stanley is located, has excellent swimming and windsurfing conditions and hosts the Stanley Dragon Boat Championships each June. The water is netted to protect swimmers from sharks. It's close to the street markets and restaurants of Stanley and can be reached by bus or taxi from the other side of Hong Kong Island.
