The Western Wall or Kotel is the most visited attraction in Jerusalem and a Jewish prayer and pilgrimage site. It's all that's left of the Second temple on Temple Mount and where prayers are inserted into crevices. Another name is the Wailing Wall where Jews mourn the destruction of the temple and pray for its rebuilding. Transgender people have encountered difficulties in being able to pray at the wall, which has separate sections for women and men with orthodox dress codes. A new egalitarian section of the wall is not divided by gender. The Western Wall Heritage Foundation sponsors a number of tours, including one of the ancient tunnels under the wall.

The holiest site for Jews where prayer is allowed invites all faiths to worship here. A Tradition to leave a note in the cracks in the Wall.
