When on the South side and in need of sabich, the only place to go is Tchernikovsky. The owner is passionate about food, and though his pita-based dishes are nothing fancy, they are prepared with a lot of heart and soul. Lines can be long, and service is decidedly gruff, but worth it for the silky fried eggplant layered with potatoes and hard-boiled egg.
