The Brussels Pride festival dates from 1996 when it was called the "Belgian Lesbian and Gay Pride Pink Saturday Samedi Rose," later shortened to "Belgian Lesbian and Gay Pride" and now simply "The Belgian Pride." It attracts some 100,000 visitors each May with street parties, tea dances, booths, entertainment and a Saturday afternoon parade.
