Anyone who calls themselves a fan of mid-century modern design will find no shortage of things to admire at Hotel Alexandra. The property is often included on lists of the best hotels in the city, due in no small part to the beautiful, authentic furniture used to decorate the rooms and lobby, made by masters like Arne Jacobsen, Finn Juhl, and Hans Wegner. Billed as a "Danish retro design hotel" the attention to detail is impressive, and extends to green practices like water-saving devices, recycling, and low-energy lighting systems. The 61 rooms don't come cheap, and can be small at the lower end of the rate scale, but the chance to enjoy a museum-worthy collection of design is worth it.
