Based on the collection of prominent local lawyer Christian Ludvig David, the Davids Samling - or David Collection - spans 18th-century European art, Danish Early Modern paintings, and Islamic art and artifacts. The Islamic portion of the museum is the most impressive and is often cited as one of the ten most important of its kind in the world. Covering the high points of the classical Islamic era, it has works from Spain to India and spans the eighth through the 19th centuries. Admission is free.
