Copenhagen is a coastal city, and criss-crossed by a network of canals, so viewing it from the water is one of the best introductions there is. Multiple tour companies operate one- or two-hour cruises, and tourists can also rent solar-powered boats of their own, many that come with small decks for picnicking. This is a common pastime even for residents, and on a sunset cruise you're likely to see any number of people out on the water, while waterside cafes fill up their terraces.
