Inspired by the Hans Christian Andersen story of the same name, The Little Mermaid sits on a rock in the Inner Harbor looking out to sea, where she's visited by throngs of tourists eager to get a picture. Made by sculptor Edvard Eriksen in 1913, she is one of the city's most popular symbols, and you'll see her silhouette on menus, t-shirts, coffee mugs and posters everywhere.
