Vesterbro was once the red-light district of Copenhagen, and like many gentrified areas it retains some of the edge of its former life. There are numerous art galleries, along with some of the best bars and restaurants in the city, and it's become one of the finest spots for a night out on the town. It's still known for prostitution, but most of the criminal elements are long gone, so a walking tour here will only be as tame as you want it to be.
