Pleasure piers on English seaside towns are common sights, and Brighton has had several, but perhaps none as grand as the Brighton Palace Pier, the "queen of all piers". Dating to 1899, it has been updated over the years and remains in full swing with an amusement arcade, thrill rides, children's games and attractions, bars, restaurants and retail shops.
