With a rich history and a convenient location, the Great Northern Hotel first opened in 1854 as a classic railway hotel, designed by Lewis Cubitt, the architect of the King's Cross station next door. The 90 rooms have since been revamped in a sleek contemporary design with modern touches like Nespresso machines and soundproofing. Each of the four floors comes with a pantry stocked with complimentary cakes, tea and coffee at 4 pm, and downstairs, the Plum + Spilt Milk restaurant serves classic British cuisine. Note that the hotel fronts St. Pancras on one side and opens directly onto the King's Cross station on the other.
