A major shopping and entertainment area in Central London, Piccadilly Circus is a busy road junction in the West End, linking Regent's Street to Theatreland, famous for the giant video displays and neon signs showing adverts day and night. The steps by Memorial Fountain and the Eros Statue are constantly full of people taking a break from the hectic surroundings. On the south side of the circus is the Criterion Theatre and the lavish Criterion Restaurant, opened in 1874.
