Shepherd Market, a charming enclave between Piccadilly and Curzon Street, dates from the 18th century when the royals commissioned architect Edward Shepherd to redesign the area that hosted the annual and raucous two-week May Fair. The redesign included a duck pond, market, theater and paved alleys to appeal to a more elegant crowd. With a village feel to this day, the square and side streets are a collection of wealthy residences, stylish restaurants, sophisticated bars, Victorian pubs, trendy coffee houses and a dense selection of shops.
