La Java, established in 1923 in an Art Deco building, was a legendary dance hall where Maurice Chevalier and Edith Piaf made their debuts and Django Reinhardt played. It has had its ups and downs. but it's back as a dance club and popular venue for garage rock, punk dub and electro-techno. Regular parties include Trou aux Biches, which showcases chick artists, and other gay-themed nights. It also has a Balkans night.
