The Bois de Boulogne on the western edge of Paris is home of the French Open and two race tracks as well as a vast park where the French promenade in an artificial landscape of lakes and streams, formal gardens and sweeping lawns. Two and a half times the size of New York's Central Park, it was once a royal hunting preserve. Today it's a favorite for picnicking, biking, jogging, fishing, boat rowing, horseback and pony rides, and remote control speed boats.
