The "passages" of Paris - secret passages really - are 19th century covered shopping arcades. Most have fallen into disuse, but several dozen survive, including ornately decorated passages with glass ceilings and mosaic floors. Among the best to visit: the shops and eateries of Galerie Vivienne not far from the Palais Royale, the bookshops and Musée Grevin waxworks of Passage Jouffroy off Boulevard Montmartre and the upscale bars and stamp-collecting stores of Passage des Panoramas across from Passage Jouffroy.
