The Petit Palais or the Palais des Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris holds an impressive collection that includes medieval and Renaissance works and paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens and Poussin. It also displays paintings and sculptures of 19th century greats like Ingres, Delacroix, Monet, Pissarro, Cézanne, Modigliani and Rodin. The building itself, built for the 1900 Exposition Universelle, was designed in Beaux-Arts style by Charles Girault, inspired by 17th and 18th century architecture. Admission is free.
