Called the longest open-air museum in the world, this nearly-mile-long stretch of the Berlin wall was immediately turned into a canvas by more than a hundred artists from all around the world after the reunification, telling the story of the long, hard years of '89 and '90. A great place to travel with children, who will appreciate the art and give parents a window into discussing the complicated turmoil of Berlin's recent past.

Fascinating, historical, but watch out for the hordes of tourists stopping randomly to take photos with friends. Some areas have been recently fenced off to protect the art.

It's great to read the stories of the reunification via street art on the wall- Unfortunately tourists overpaint or make notes/ post on the wall- But the good thing, street artists are coming back on a regular basis back to repaint their murals. Absolutely worth a visit and a peace of natural history.
