A more unsung, but equally important museum, the Gemäldegalerie (also accessible on the Museum Card) is home to one of the world's largest collections of European paintings. It often catches the visitor off guard to discover the artists showcased in the odd, dizzying postmodern building: there are paitings by Holbein, Raphael, and Rembrandt, and it is one of very few museums where you can have a wildly popular masterpiece like Caravaggio's Amor Victorius all to yourself.
