If the traveler can handle the bike ride, drive through West Berlin and continue straight through the Grunewald to the Havel, a river several times the size of the Spree. The scenery here cannot be beat. A sandy beach and a lovely, diverse cross-section of recreating Berliners makes this spot one of those "you can't believe is in Berlin."
