With a collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts second only to that of Cairo's, and home to the astonishing bust of Nefertiti, the Neues Museum is one of the more compelling museums on the isle. Essentially completely destroyed during the Second World War, many visit the museum just to witness the feat of its reconstruction, in which an architectural dialogue is visible between the ruins of the original edifice and its painstaking, award-winning repair. The ancient paper collection is also not to miss.
