Ehrenfeld is Cologne's multi-cultural, steadily gentrifying district, where artists, young families and entrepreneurs of all sorts are currently migrating in large numbers. With boutiques and coffee roasters all around, as well as great international locales (there are more affordable, delicious Turkish bakeries and cafés than anywhere else), it's a safe-haven away from the trendier city center. It's worth a visit in itself just to take in the vibrant graffiti art that has come to be another of its claims to fame.
