Neuengamme was a Nazi slave labor camp, which produce bricks and weapons from 1938 to 1945. The Neuengamme Memorial opened in 2005 to commemorate the gays, gypsies, Jews and political prisoners who died there. It includes a haunting outdoor area where dormitories, dining hall and hospital once stood and a museum. It can be reached by bus 227 or 327 from Bergedorf station. Admission is free.
