Since 1998, the well-maintained and rather palatial hostel has provided affordable lodging with a hint of hotel service. Steps from the main train station, the 19th century building maintains its old world charm, coupled with spacious private and shared rooms and a lively atmosphere. Rates can be as low as 11 euro a night but climb a good deal during Oktoberfest. Note that Munich's strict healthy and safety laws mean no communal kitchen.
