The Cuvilliés Theatre was first commissioned by Maximilian III Joseph in the 18th-century after the Residence's other theatre burned down. Though it was blasted to smithereens during WWII, thanks to foresight, the gorgeous gilded box-seating had been dismantled and stored away. Today the horeshoe-shaped, 14-story theater radiates with all its former glory and hosts regular concerts. Tours are three Euro per person and can be arranged via e-mail.
