A monumental loggia bordering Odeonsplatz, the Feldherrnhalle is one of Munich's most iconic city symbols, modeled after the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence and commissioned by Ludwig I to honor the Bavarian army. In 1923, it was the site of the battle that ended Hitler's Beer Hall Putsch and subsequently a memorial to the fallen Nazis during the Hitler era.
