Just below the northernmost stretch of A99, the roadway which circles Munich, is this man-made lake. Designed for sun bathing, there is never any scarcity of place to lay a towel. In the winter, it freezes over rather quickly, making it a popular destination for ice skaters and curlers. There is a pub (Gasthof) on its banks. Take the S8 to Unterföhring and follow the signs.
