Probably the most famous of all the Munich churches, the Frauenkirche stands out for its stature alone. Towering above all else in the skyline, the cathedral serves as the seat of Munich and Freising's archbishop. Though built in the Gothic style, it's rather reserved, forgeoing the spires and gargoyles typically associated with the form. The South tower can often be climbed, offering an unbeatable view of the city all the way to the Alps. Tours are available from May until September, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2 pm.
