Built as a summer house for royals, this enormous Baroque palace is one of Bavaria's architectural treasures. Its frescoes, pavillions, and lodges are all feasts for the eyes and object lessons in 18th-century princely luxury. And no, it's not déjà-vu: the grand parterre looks familiar because it is the very one from Alain Resnais's Last Year at Marienbad.
