The oldest parish church in Munich, St. Peter dates back to the 12th century and has been amended and expanded all the way up to the addition of a Baroque choir and Renaissance steeple in the 17th. The frescoes are all considered masterpieces of their time, and the 91-meter tower, called Alter Peter (Old Peter) by the locals, is an indentifying characteristic of the city's skyline.
