Mithymna is an hour and half north of Skala Eressos. Built around a medieval castle, the town has cobblestone streets, a working fishing harbor, and a number of fine shops selling art, jewelry, boutique fashion and delicacies. The restaurants surrounding the harbor serve good food, and it's one of the nicest places to watch fishermen at work. During the summer, the castle grounds hosts live events and festivals with music, food and open-air theater.
