About 4 miles (6 km) northwest of Mytilini in the small town of Moria stand the remains of a Roman aqueduct. Dating back to the 2nd century, it once stretched for nearly twenty miles from Olympus to Mytilini. There are 17 arches remaining, all made from gray Lesviot marble with graceful, gravity-defying arcs. There are no concession stands or ticket booths, meaning if you come for sunrise or sunset, it can be a mystical, solitary experience.
