With 250,000 people transiting the station daily, Centraal Station is the biggest transport hub in the city and one of the busiest in the country. Inaugurated in 1889, the impressive Neo-Renaissance building is the terminus for several train, tram, bus and metro lines, as well as a waterfront station for ferries and departure quays for the tourist boats cruising the canals. Trains to the Schiphol International Airport also stop here as well as bikes, thousands of bikes.
