A gathering place for exhibitions, workshops, seminars on art, technology and new media, the Mediamatic Foundation was initially created as a magazine for media art in the 1980s. Art projects range from design and new media to society and sustainability. In 2013, The Sandwich Factory project spent $44,000 to raise two pigs, two cows and a field of wheat for eight months in the city, to demonstrate what it takes to produce ham, cheese and bread for the iconic Dutch tosti sandwich from scratch.
