In the heart of Amsterdam, right in the middle of the Red Light District, the Oude Kerk is Amsterdam's oldest building. Before the reformation, Oude Kerk (Old Church) was a Catholic church but was transformed into a Calvinist Dutch Reformed Church in 1578. Thought the generations, the 1213 wooden chapel was renovated, looted and defaced. Today it is a center of religious and cultural activities, including the BBC Singers and World Press Photo.
