With over 8,000 objects illustrating 800 years of Dutch history under one roof, the Rijksmuseum is the most important museum in the Netherlands. The Rembrandt collection has its own gallery in the museum, and the Gallery of Honour has works from the greatest artists of the 17th century. The Asia Pavilion, built from Portuguese sandstone and glass, houses a rich collection of Asian art from China, Japan, Indonesia, India, Vietnam and Thailand dating back to 2000 BC.
